Unearthed

There are few moments in life when we are known.

On a cool August morning
I rise from the cinders,
black and cold.

Tears kiss
the apples of my cheeks.

I have spent my days
perceiving everyone else around me,
only to go undiscovered.

There are few moments in life
when we are known.

You unearthed me.
