Inflorescence

Inflorescence is about the upward spiral of growth. Sometimes it seems like you're going in the wrong direction. If you're learning from your mistakes, keep going. You're growing.

I am torn
between wanting to shrivel
or expand.
Still I reach out to the sun
to console my self,
like a broken branch that’s been planted
in the soil
in hopes that it will grow.
It’s hard to tend to these roots
that I myself cut out from under me
like bridges burned.
Each dead stem
is a mistake, a question,
a poisoned vein.
These endless speculations
only make my head spin.
All these things I’ll never know
the answer to,
all the answers that I do.
Old versions of me pushing daisies
like a thousand flowerets
fleshing out in me.
Like thorns shooting out of my once
spineless back.
Flourishing is a tedious task.
