Roses Upon Roses

before, my mind was a cave where no light shone. now, it is like soil -- it is rich if i tend to it.

i close my eyes each night,
thinking of where i want to be;
in your arms,
on the top of a mountain,
my heartbeat strong,
my dreams materialized.
all of these things seem possible now.
before, my mind was a cave
where no light shone.
now, it is like soil —
it is rich if i tend to it.
i plant any seeds that i like and watch them grow,
as long as i water them.
you sit in my garden,
marveling at roses upon roses.
unbeknownst to you,
i am willing them to bloom.
